Reza Shahabi suffers stroke in prison, Free Reza Shahabi Now!

reza shTehran bus workers’ syndicate reported today that, during the family’s visit with Reza Shahabi on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, the left half of his face was flat and under his eyes had a special sink. Reza had informed the prison’s doctor and they detected that he had a mild stroke. Despite his stroke, according to the latest news, the prison authorities have so far refused to transfer him to a hospital outside the prison. The specialists had already diagnosed that Reza Shahabi was not physically capable of bearing a prison. In addition, Reza repeatedly had high blood pressure and nose bleeding in the prison. He has had severe headaches. But the Tehran Prison’s as well as Prosecutor’s Offices have disregarded all these serious health problems and warnings; they have overlooked the previous diagnosis of physicians.

The Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company emphasized again today that the sentencing of Reza Shahabi has already ended. In addition, the physicians have determined that Shahabi cannot be physically fit to bear prison and his stroke and visible signs also indicate the correct diagnosis of physicians for his release. Therefore, his continued imprisonment could only be considered a decision to gradually kill this imprisoned worker. Reza Shahabi must be released immediately and unconditionally. The Vahed Syndicate considers the Iranian government’s intelligence authorities, Tehran’s prosecutor’s office and prison authorities responsible for the life and well-being of Reza Shahabi.

IASWI strongly condemns the continued imprisonment and abuse of Reza Shahabi and urges all workers and allies internationally to take all necessary measures to ensure that Reza Shahabi is freed immediately and unconditionally.
