We Condemn the Arrests of Worker-Activists

On December 22nd, 2008 Bijan Amiri, an auto-worker and a worker-activist after having had a confrontation with the factory Security Guard was arrested by the Security Police (Iran). That evening, when Mohsen Hakimi, a writer and worker-activist went to Bijan Amiri’s residence to support and assist his family, was arrested and transferred to Evin prison by plain-clothes security which had been raiding Amiris’ residence and searching his house. This illegal and arbitrary arrest occurred such that there are no charges laid against him nor had any court-order arrest warrant been issued. (more…)

Continuation of the Imprisonment of Mohsen Hakimi and Bijan Amiri

In the previous statement where we updated that the anti-capitalist working class movement activists Mohsen Hakimi and Bijan Amiri during their phone call home to the families, stated that a $100,000 bail was issued for each of them; today approximately one week later, the special state prosecutor and the judge completely denied the issuing of any such surety. The judge has refused to discuss any surety or bail with their families. (more…)
